Excavation of a Roman drying kiln

The information boards explain and show the use of the drying kiln.

The structure of this excavated building suggest that it was a Roman drying kiln used to dry food for storage. The kiln in Seebruck was probably a commercially run corn drying plant with a smoking chamber for meat and fish. The original Roman walls and a well are on display and open the whole year round.

The archaeological excavation site of a Roman drying kiln is roofed over and has information boards. It is the tenth station on the archaeological round tour.
