Refuge caves in the mountains
Sensational finds in inaccessible caves high up on the mountain side indicate that people sought refuge there for months to escape raiding warriors in the valley.
A “telescope” points up the mountain to the refuge caves. An information board explains how archaeologists studied the caves and what they found there.
In Höhenberg, you can also view the large collection of prehistoric, Roman, and later archaeological objects found by the detectorist Sebastian Aringer working in cooperation with the Bavarian conservation authorities.
