Roman strip house

In BEDAIUM, innkeepers, merchants, fishermen and artisans lived and worked in houses similiar to modern-day row houses built along the road.

The strip houses of innkeepers, merchants, fishermen and artisans in BEDAIUM were similar to modern row or terraced houses, but built with the narrow end of the building toward the streetside where the products could be sold. In a parking lot, an outline visualises the dimensions of an original strip house. Look through the "window to the past" to see how it looked in the backard of an artisan's house.

The Roman strip house with an information board and a window to the past is station 11 of the archaeological round tour.
