Seeon-Seebruck/ Truchtlaching

A Celtic fort "Viereckschanze"

The almost perfectly square walls of the fort measure 85 x 90 m in length and were surrounded by a ditch or moat.

The ditch surrounding the fort was originally probably not more than 50-60 cm deep and is today hardly discernable. The height from the bottom of the ditch to the top of the rampart was ca. 1.50-1.80 m and at the corners around 2 m. A reconstruction of how the entry portal may have looked gives visitors an impression of the dimensions of the fort. The Celtic fort is open all year round.

The Celtic fort near Truchtlaching features a partial reconstruction of the entry portal and information board. It is the fourth station of the archaeological round tour. Parking is available.
