The remains of a temple or castellum

The Roman museum Bedaium is situated near the church where once the Roman temple of BEDAIUS and later a Roman castellum stood.

BEDAIUS, originally a local Celtic deity, was adopted by the Romans and worshipped by them in a temple which stood on the site of the present-day church. Also the town which developed around the Roman bridge checkpoint, where the road crosses the River Alz, took the name BEDAIUM. Later, a small military castellum was built on the temple site. The partially reconstructed wall of the fort is open to view.

Beside the church, the Roman museum BEDAIUM offers a collection of archaeological finds of the Roman period, particularly from Seebruck/BEDAIUM. Please consult the museum's website for the opening hours.

The Roman museum Seebruck with its courtyard, Roman wall and remains of the BEDAIUS temple is the starting point and first installation of the archaeological round tour.
